At a practical and personal level of understanding of how design translates to project delivery, Catherine designed and project managed her own oak framed family house (well before “Grand Designs” hit the screens) and in her spare time enjoys renovating houses, sailing boats and classic cars, ensuring their continued enjoyment and usefulness.
A particular area of current focus is low energy and carbon reduction and the wider application of the Passivhaus standard to buildings beyond domestic dwellings.
“Careful thought to basic site planning and building orientation, delivering a sound and affordable strategy of airtight detail and specification balanced with as much natural environmental control and management as is possible, is key”.
Away from the office, life revolves around rugby September to May and sailing May to September.
